Improvement of Sylhet-Tamabil Road to a four Lane Highway with Separate SMVT Lane Project

It is our pleasure and pride to announce that an agreement has been signed between Roads & Highways Department, Bangladesh and a Joint Venture consortium of ICT-IRD-BCL in association with KSCL on 25th September, 2023 for the Construction Supervision Consultancy Services for “Improvement of Sylhet-Tamabil Road to a four Lane Highway with Separate SMVT Lane Project”. Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank is the development Partner of this Project.

The Project road links Sylhet City and the important Land Port Tamabil, total length of the road will be about 56km. This road will eventually become an important part of the Asian Highway AH1 and AH2, also part BIMSTEC Corridor 3 and SAARC Highway Corridor (SHC-5). The improvement of this highway section with Dhaka-Sylhet Portion will promote inter regional trade, commerce and tourism; and will enhance the international export-import trade between Bangladesh and India. The consultancy services include,

i. Review, amend (if necessary) and confirm the detail design

ii. Develop and establish a Quality Assurance plan to complete the project with desired quality within the stipulated time frame

iii. Comprehensive supervision of project works carried out by the contractors to ensure complete compliance

iv. Performance monitoring and safeguards implementation

v. Establishment of modified asphalt and emulsified asphalt plant, &

vi. Procurement support

Duration of Consultancy Services will be 60 months; 48 months for Construction Supervision and 12 months for Defect Liability Period.
